Goods & Spaces

The two simple building blocks behind everything in GoodsCount.

What is a Space?

A Space is a location that holds your goods — like a warehouse, a shelf, or a room. You group your goods by warehouse, shelf, room, or any other location that makes sense for you.

Think of Spaces like folders on your computer — they keep everything tidy and easy to find.

What is a Good?

A Good is any item you track — its quantity, value, photos, and more.

Quantity

How many you have, in the units you use.

Value

The price or worth of the item.

Photos

Pictures so anyone on your team can recognize it.

Barcode

Scan to find it in an instant.

Organizing with nesting

Spaces can sit inside other Spaces — just like folders inside folders. So a Warehouse can hold a Roasting Room, which holds Shelf A, which holds your goods. Organize as shallow or as deep as your business actually is.

The trail at the top — Warehouse › Roasting Room › Shelf A — always shows where you are, and one click takes you back up.

What's here vs. everything inside

When you open a Space, you'll see what's directly here, plus the total of everything nested inside it — all the way down. So a Warehouse can show zero items directly, but still roll up everything on every shelf inside it. That answers the real question — "what's in this whole section?" — at a glance.

In plain words

"Here" = sitting in this exact Space. "Total" = this Space plus every Space tucked inside it.

Try it yourself

That's the whole idea: Spaces are your places, Goods are your things, and they nest as deep as you need.
